Box Score Lady Marauders fall in overtime to Ursuline

Wilberforce, OH - In a earlier than normal G-MAC contest, Central State fell to Ursuline 91-88 in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

Central State seemed to be in control throughout the majority of the game, taking a 41-29 lead into halftime and leading by as many as 13 in the second stanza. Unfortunately, the Marauders saw their lead evaporate to just 3 with 14 seconds remaining in regulation. Receiving the ball inbounds, CSU guard Iniquia Snell immediately was double teamed and was unable to negotiate her way passed the Arrow defenders, stepping out of bounds with 10 seconds left to give Ursuline a chance to tie. Makayla Rosselot answered the call for the Arrows, converting her fourth 3 pointer of the evening to even the game at 78-78. After another CSU turnover, Ursuline's Emma Ricketts' potential game winning shot was altered by the long arms of CSU center Akwar Obong as the game went into overtime.

In the overtime period, the two teams traded baskets, leading to a 88-88 tie with 1 minute remaining. After two Ursuline free throws, CSU was down 2 with the ball. The Marauders had three opportunites at the other end as shots from Amanda Pierce, Jasmine Cooper and Bria Spaulding rimmed out. After the Spaulding miss, CSU was forced to foul with 8 seconds. Ursuline's Brianna Woods split her pair of free throws to put the Arrows up 91-88. CSU's inbounds play found the ball in the hands of Jordyn Bond. Bond's attempt to tie the game was unsuccessful as Ursuline players rejoiced after earning their first victory of the season.

Rosselot led all scorers with 32 points as Ursuline improved to 1-7. Pierce led the way for the Marauders (1-4) with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Marauders take to the court on Sunday when they host Pikeville University at 4 pm.
