Lewis Shine

Coach Lewis Shine II joined the Central State Lady Marauders' coaching staff in February of 2017.

A Chicago native, but also calling Lima, Ohio his home since moving there in 1993, Coach Shine has always had the love for the game of basketball.

Being recognized as a standout guard at Lima Senior High School, averaging better than 17 points per contest, Shine received All-GMC (Greater Miami Conference) Athletic and Academic Honors. Shine graduated with a 3.8 GPA which ranked 11th in his graduating class.

Shine furthered his education at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Majoring in Exercise Science, Shine received his Bachelor's Degree in Health and Sports Studies in 2002.

In his first year in Oxford, Lewis walked on to the Miami Redhawk basketball team and was a member of the 1998 team that went on be one of the greatest basketball teams in MU history, winning a MAC (Mid American Conference) Championship, and reaching the NCAA's Sweet 16 Round of its Post Season Tournament.

Academically, Shine received honor roll recognition as well as earning a spot on the Dean's and President's List for various semester grading periods over his four-year undergraduate tenure.

After departing Miami University, Shine played one season of professional basketball in the American Basketball Association (2004-2005), where he had experience with three different teams: Utah Snowbears (Salt Lake City - Head Coach - Ike Austin), Colorado Storm (Denver - Head Coach Sheldon Jones) and the Louisiana Cajun Pelicans (Baton Rouge - Head Coach Sheldon Jones).

Maintaining focus on sport and fitness, Shine has served as a personal trainer since 2005. Shine has trained athletes on all levels including professional, collegiate, high school and junior high. He has also worked with non-athletes via one-on-one sessions, team sessions, group training, fitness and boot camp classes, as well as online and virtual training.

From 2007 to 2009, Lewis served as the Director of Black Achievers at the Lima Family YMCA, where his initiative was to make a difference in the lives of the youth in his city and the immediate surrounding areas.

Lewis has worked in professional sports for the last several years. In 2011-2012, he would become the PR & Marketing Director for the Lima Explosion, a member of the American Basketball Association. During the 2012-2013 Season, he served as the General Manager of the team as well as the Head Coach.

From 2013-2016, Lewis was the Owner & General Manager of his own Minor League Basketball Team (Lima Express), that spent the first two years of it's existence playing in the PBL (Premier Basketball League). During the team's inaugural season, Shine was named Co-Executive Of The Year. In the third season of the team's existence, it would move up to play in  the MPBA (Midwest Professional Basketball League). The team went on to earn a playoff birth. Within the three years of the team's existence, more than 15 players have been sent to further their professional basketball careers overseas and abroad in other countries.

Most recently, Lewis has worked abroad with FIBA (Federation of International Basketball) during their Centrobasket 2016 and Sudamericano 2016 Tournaments in Central America (Panama) and South America (Venezuela) as a Color Commentator & Analyst. He also worked for the NBA Development League at their recent Showcase in Mississauga, Ontario (Canada).
