Sheba Harris

Sheba Harris has served as Head Coach of the Lady Marauders since 2009. She previously served as the assistant to former coach Pat Tramble. Harris currently has the longest tenure of any coach at the University.

Sheba came to Central State in 1997 as a standout player from John F. Kennedy High School in Cleveland, Ohio, where she averaged 28 points and 16 rebounds per game.

Sheba was recruited to CSU by Hall of Fame Coach Theresa Check. While at Central, Harris was a three-time All-American selection. She was also named the NAIA Division I National Player of the Week on six different occasions during her senior year after averaging 27 points and 11 rebounds per game. Harris reached the 1,000 career point plateau during her senior year against Wilberforce University.

Harris was invited to play in the Historically Black College and University All-Star Game at the conclusion of her Central State career. In 2002 the WNBA invited Harris to its tryouts.

“Sheba was one of the most clutch players I have ever coached,” Check said. “When the game was on the line, we wanted the ball in her hands and she usually delivered.”

After four years as a student-athlete (1997-2001), she began her coaching career as a full-time assistant from 2003 to 2009 where she worked with Tramble before being promoted to lead the Lady Marauders by former Athletic Director Kellen Winslow.

Harris earned a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing & Engineering in 2002 and Master of Education degree from Central State in 2009. In 2011, Harris was inducted into the Marauder Hall of Fame, joining her former coach and mentor.

Last season, Harris and the Lady Marauders claimed the SIAC West Division title. The title was the first for any Marauder athletic team since the school became an exclusive member of NCAA Div. II. On their way to the title, Harris earned her 100th career coaching victory and was named the 2016-2017 SIAC Coach of the Year.

Coach Harris continues to recruit talented young women to further their education at Central State while continuing to instill a winning culture.
