Sayon Cooper
Sayon Cooper is the current head coach of the Liberian National Olympic Team. He attended Central State University from 1992 to 1996, running track for the Marauders. Sayon was a 3-time All-American and 5-time NAIA All-American. He placed 3rd in the 1994 NAIA Outdoor Championships 4x100 meter relay team and was a member of the record-breaking 4x100 meter relay team during the 1995 outdoor season.
Sayon Cooper transferred to Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Industrial Technology and earned a 1997 NCAA Division II Championship title in the 4x100 meter. Together, Cooper and the World Championships team have participated in 5 Olympic Games (2 as an athlete and 3 as head coach) and have earned multiple African Championships titles.
He is currently the Director of Athletic and Developmental Disability Services in Peachtree City, Georgia. Sayon resides in Georgia with his loving wife, Tangi Cooper, and their five beautiful daughters—Dianna, Taylor, Talia, Tali, and Tyla—who mean the world to him. Mr. Cooper is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
