Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Kelly Adams was an outstanding athlete and an exceptional basketball player at Collinwood High School. Adams went on to play at Sullivan College in Lexington, Kentucky, where she led the team to theNJCAA final field of 16 teams while averaging 25 points per game and earning NJCAA 1st Team All-American honors.

Following graduation from Sullivan and a brief stint playing at St. Louis University, Adams returned to her hometown before being recruited to Central State by Head Coach Pat Tramble. As a member of the Lady Marauders basketball team, Kelly helped lead CSU to a 30-2 record in the 2001-02 season and a 28-5 ledger in the 2002-03 season while earning back-to-back NAIA All-American honors.
 
In her first season at Central State, Kelly averaged 24 points per game and was ranked top three on the team in every statistical category. She also led the Lady Marauders to their first-ever Final Four appearance at the NAIA Division I National Championship Tournament. As a senior, the 5'7 guard led CSU to the NAIA Quarter Finals while averaging 21 points per game.
 
Kelly graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and was a double major in Business Management and Marketing. Maintaining an overall 3.2 GPA Kelly was on the Dean’s List each quarter and graduated Cum Laude.
